NicoTests® Cotinine/Nicotine Second-Hand/Infant Exposure Smoke Test

The NicoTests™  Second-Hand Smoke Cotinine/Nicotine Test Device (Urine) detects Cotinine in human urine at a cut-off concentration of 10 ng/mL. Cotinine is a nicotine metabolite, a “break-down” product of nicotine use. This test has twenty times the sensitivity of a standard nicotine/cotinine test.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Remove NicoTests™ Second-Hand Smoke Cotinine/Nicotine Test Device from the foil pouch at room temperature. 
  2. Take off the cap revealing the absorbent testing tip.
  3. Collect a urine sample in a suitable cup. A Dixie Cup is fine.  (Note: if collecting from an infant use cotton swabs to collect urine from a diaper, then squeeze out the urine sample.)
  4. Immerse the testing tip vertically in the urine sample for at least 10 – 15 seconds. Do not allow the test tip to touch the urine collection cup. Only the absorbent tip should touch the specimen. 
  5. Read at 5 minutes.
